The Photography program encourages original thinking, self-expression and visualization, while teaching the skills of photographic seeing, production and presentation. The curriculum rigorously supports a broad understanding of the role photography plays in contemporary culture and its relationship to the history of the medium, as well as its future within the context of other media and the Internet. The photograph is both object and idea, able to manifest itself as print, book, data and space. It is the fundamental unit of visual meaning today and a critical part of our mediated environment.
